binscarth elevator
Manitoba Pool Grain Elevator
And Water Tower, Binscarth, Manitoba,1987

Binscarth, Manitoba is located very close to the Saskatchewan border about 50km north of the TransCanada Highway.Very few of the railroad water towers remain. In the earlier part of the 20th century trains were pulled by steam locomotives. Steam locomotives necessarily get thirsty and their thirst is quenched from the towers like the one in the picture. The two rail cars alongside the elevator and annex are specially designed to hold grain. The cars can be quickly unloaded at the seaport grain terminals.
